Race, Privilege & Identity will be a Do it Ourselves (DIO) gathering.

A close friend of Do it Yourself principles (DIY), this re-phrasing emphasises the collective aspects of participatory, autonomous organising. It emerges from its use in the the Rhizomes Collective’s Tool book for Sustainable City Living, a must read for anyone wanting to turn disused carparks into allotments and grow mushrooms on logs.

What does DIO mean?

Basically it means that for the event to be a success it requires the input of everyone who comes to it – small acts matter greatly in this context – if everyone does a little, no one has to do it alot. We share the work collectively.

Gatherings like these are a great way to try new things out, learn and develop your skills – be that in cooking, mediation or helping keep the younger people entertained.

Please get in touch if you have any ideas of how you want to help at or turn up on the day to sign up to some activities!
